Perhaps the most delicate and intimate structure in the palace, the Iftar Pavilion is less a building and more a gilded balcony suspended over the Golden Horn. It offers one of the most breathtaking views in the entire complex. Commissioned by Sultan Ibrahim, its purpose was deeply personal: to provide a serene setting for the Sultan to break his fast (iftar) during the holy month of Ramadan.
Crafted almost entirely from cast copper and bronze, its golden canopy is crowned with a finial bearing the Basmala (the opening phrase of the Quran). Beyond its ceremonial role during Ramadan, this elegant space served as a shaded canopy (gölgelik) on hot summer days and a moonlit belvedere (mehtaplık) on clear nights, offering the Sultan a moment of quiet contemplation above the bustling city.
